When you start purchasing truck insurance, you most likely have a lot of questions. You probably feel lost when looking at the documentation or when talking to an insurance agent. Take a look at these tips below to eliminate your confusion and to learn what you need to purchase a good truck policy. One way to save money on your truck insurance is to buy your policy over the internet. Purchasing your policy online incurs fewer costs for the insurance company and many companies will then pass on those savings to the consumer. Buying truck insurance online can save you about five to ten percent annually. When considering extras for your truck insurance, you can most likely do without the truck rental insurance. You will pay nearly $50 a year for rental insurance, when that is the same cost for renting a truck for one to two days. Also, your rental truck is most likely already covered under your policy, anyhow. Being a truck dealership can have it’s insurance perks. You must maintain insurance policies on the vehicles you carry, but you can get a deal for this through dealers insurance. These policies will allow you to drive any of the company owned trucks, essentially eliminating the need for personal truck insurance. Stay far away from vehicles with the word “sport” included on them. Anything that goes fast is viewed negatively by insurance companies, as these can influence drivers to take more risks, which in turn costs them more money. Steer clear of sporty vehicles unless you want your premiums to get higher. You are just insuring the truck’s driver when getting a truck policy. Many times people will let a friend borrow their truck, and if they get in an accident, the insurance refuses to pay. Truck insurance policies can be purchased at a higher premium, that include allowing other licensed drivers to operate your vehicle. If your truck is insured with multiple drivers and one of them stops using the truck, notify your insurance company immediately. It is the honest thing to do. More importantly, it can reduce your premiums significantly in many cases. Young drivers, old drivers, and drivers with bad records all boost your premium. Get them removed from your policy as soon as you can. Do not jump on the cheapest truck insurance quote that you get. It could be the bargain of the year, or it may not be adequate insurance for you at all. Try to learn more about the policy that you’re trying to get and how it can help you cover damages, if ever you get into an accident. To get the best price on your truck insurance policy, make sure that the one you currently have includes correct information about your vehicle. Double check the listed age and make of your truck and look to see that the mileage they have is right. Make sure that any special circumstances, such as a short drive to work, are mentioned. Be aware of everything you are insuring. A lot of people have truck insurance but surprisingly few actually look at the individual things they are insuring. It is important to know your insurance types. You don’t want to get in a wreck and find something expensive wasn’t covered by your insurance. Consider switching the deductible from $1000 to $100. There a many pros and cons for lowering a deductible, even so the pros usually outweigh the cons. You might find yourself paying for a minor collision or two, but you should ultimately be saving a lot more money if you are a safe driver. Cheap Insurance Perhaps you cannot afford to pay much for your truck insurance, but remember that it is a legal requirement to have insurance in order to drive a truck. If you get pulled over and cannot prove that you have truck insurance, you will get a fine. Get an extremely cheap insurance if you need to. If you are hunting for cheaper premiums then relocating to a different area might be helpful. Insurance regulations and premiums vary from place to place. Insurance can be significantly less expensive in some cities and states than others. Insurance Discount Did you know that a simple feature on your truck like anti-lock brakes entitles you to an insurance discount? It’s true; the safer your vehicle is, the less you will ultimately have to pay for truck insurance. So when you’re shopping around for a truck, spending a little extra for safety features is rewarded in the long run via lower premiums. Installing anti-theft systems in your truck can save you significant money on your truck insurance. Regardless of their actual effectiveness, alarms and tracking devices deter thieves and insurance companies acknowledge that fact by reducing premiums. Remember that anti-theft equipment is a one-time expense, but the value of an insurance discount will continue to grow over time. Take advantage of every possible truck insurance discount. Some insurers list all of their discount possibilities on their websites, while other insurers are not so forthcoming. You may need to telephone your agent and ask them to list all the discount options for you. Research what other companies offer so you are prepared to ask questions. Can you get a discount for going to defensive driving school? How about accident forgiveness? Do you get a good driver discount? Ask about any discounts on deductibles for good driving history, and loyalty discounts for staying with the same insurer. See if you qualify for a Safe Vehicle Truck Insurance Discount. If your truck has a variety of safety features, such as airbags and anti-lock brakes, you may qualify for a reduced rate on your insurance. Discuss everything that your truck has with your agent so that you get the best possible rate. In conclusion, buying truck insurance can seem intimidating to someone who has never done it before, but after learning and applying some of the previously mentioned tips, it’s not bad at all. It does require research and some common sense. Once you know what to look for, you are well on your way to getting a good truck policy. The post Cheap Trucking Insurance Ideas To Help You appeared first on TruckInsuranceAAA.com. source https://www.truckinsuranceaaa.com/cheap-trucking-insurance-ideas-to-help-you/ WINNIPEG, Man. – Today marked the 60th year Arnold Bros. Transport has been in business. Founded in 1958 by Frank and Gerry Arnold, the Winnipeg-based carrier started when the brothers expanded the family farm with the transportation of grain. “It’s exciting to see Arnold Bros. reach the 60-year mark,” said Gary Arnold, executive vice-president of Arnold Bros. Incorporated in August of ’58, the family-run business now employs five generations with the youngest being 21 and the oldest 80 years old. “The company has far surpassed what Frank and Gerry envisioned back in the ‘50s,” Gary said. “Arnold Bros. Transport hauls a variety of goods throughout Canada and the U.S. due to the multiple types of equipment we have available. We work with dozens and dozens of industries, with a loyal and long-standing customer base that relies on the quality of our service and our people.” The company now hauls a variety of goods, including farm machinery and agricultural products, as well as operating dry van and refrigerated trailers. The post Arnold Bros. celebrates 60 years in trucking industry appeared first on TruckInsuranceAAA.com. source https://www.truckinsuranceaaa.com/arnold-bros-celebrates-60-years-in-trucking-industry/ You’ve been looking all day for good tips on truck insurance but have found nothing of use so far. It can be frustrating with the amount of unverified information out there. Pay close attention to the tips provided in this article and you should find plenty of good information to help you on your way to being an expert on the subject. When considering truck insurance for a young driver, be sure to provide the insurance company with all of the proof that may entitle the driver to a discount. This will ensure you are paying as little as possible, and also ensure that the process goes smoothly. Such discounts would be safety features of the truck, good grades, recent graduation, and having a safe prior record. When you are dealing with truck insurance you have to walk that fine line of how much coverage that you actually need. You don’t want to end up with not enough but you also don’t want to have too much insurance because that can be expensive. Insurance will depend on how much income you have and also, how many assets that you have. Be sure to research because most times, the state minimum, is actually not enough coverage. If you want to save money on truck insurance, you may want to consider selecting from the higher deductibles that are offered by your agency. This means you will have more out of pocket expenses should you be involved in a truck accident, but it will lower your premium substantially. If your truck is older and has a low book value, you can save money on your insurance by dropping the comprehensive and collision coverage options. If you are ever involved in an accident with an older truck of little value, the insurer is not going to fix it. They will label it totaled. So there is no reason to pay for this type of coverage. Make sure you understand what coverage you are buying. A cheap beater truck that you bought for a song doesn’t need comprehensive coverage. It would be cheaper to buy a new truck than to have it replaced. Learning the differences between the types of coverage will make you much better prepared when reviewing quotes. See if your insurance company offers or accepts 3rd party driving tests that show your safety and skills in driving. The safer you drive the less of a risk you are and your insurance premiums should reflect that. Ask your agent if you can receive a discount for proving you are a safe driver. Do not try to claim your truck is worth more than it really is. It’s tempting to think that in case of an accident you might end up with a check larger enough to go out and buy that luxury truck you’ve always wanted. It doesn’t work though because insurance companies only pay the fair market worth of your truck, not what you claimed it was worth. If you have developed a history of trouble-free driving over the course of several years, inquire with your truck insurance company about a no-claim discount. Many companies offer these discounts for reliable customers they have not had to pay-out for. Some companies apply no-claim discounts automatically; with others the driver must inquire. It never hurts to ask! When purchasing truck insurance, consider opting for the highest deductible option you can get to keep your premiums low. To make sure you have the money to pay the deductible if you should need it, bank the difference from the expensive premium you would pay for a lower deductible. A safe driver will come out way ahead over time. If you are looking to get truck insurance, do not commit to any company until you have gotten multiple quotes. You can do this online without having to speak with an insurance agent or sales representative. By getting multiple quotes you are reducing the chances of truck insurance companies cheating you. If you already have or are thinking about getting another truck, call your truck insurance provider. This is because many people do not know that you can put more than one truck on one plan. By having all of your trucks insured under the same plan, you could potentially save thousands of dollars. Truck Insurance A great way to save some money on your truck or truck insurance is to drive your vehicle less frequently. Many of today’s best truck insurance companies offer discounts to customers for low-mileage, incentivizing people to keep their trucks parked. If you can walk instead of drive, you can get some good exercise and save money on your insurance. In conclusion, it can take a lot of time out of your day trying to find good information about truck insurance. This article has compiled some of the best information available. Follow what is mentioned carefully and you will be in great shape for whatever you were hoping to accomplish. The dealer often knows the most about your particular type of vehicle, but they generally cost the most as a result. Weigh your options and go with what is right for you. Remember that, no matter how well you plan, something unexpected will come up and consume your time. Avoid running out of daylight by getting an early start that will allow you to cope with the unexpected. Avoid being run over by your own truck! When you jack your truck up, be sure to set your emergency brake. Place bricks behind the tires you are not working on to keep your truck from rolling. Keep a set of wedges or three or four bricks in the trunk of your truck in case you have to change a flat tire on a hill. When looking for a reputable automotive repair facility, only consider certified repair shops. Certifications, such as the seal for Automotive Service Excellence, are an indication that the shop has demonstrated a basic level of competence in the field of automobile repair. While such certifications are never an absolute guarantee of good service, the odds are much higher when the establishment is certified. Always get your timing belt repaired at the proper time, according to your tune-up schedule. A timing belt going out can cause major engine damage, leading to much bigger repairs. Those repairs can run into the thousands of dollars, so don’t ignore that timing belt – you may be sorry if you do! Trust your gut feeling when dealing with a mechanic. If the person you are talking to does not really answer to your questions or seems to be vague on purpose, you need to keep looking. A good mechanic should put you at ease and give you plenty of details on the work that needs to be done. If you are considering a do-it-yourself truck repair, make very sure that you know what you are getting in to. Get a qualified quote for having a professional do the work for you, then determine what it will take in parts and tools for you to do it yourself. It could very well be that you will not save that much and will be risking things such as safety and reliability of your vehicle. Sometimes parts of your truck will need to be replaced. In the event of this, tell your repair shop to use OEM parts rather than generic parts. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. The OEM parts will give your truck the best performance possible, while the cheaper generic parts may leave your truck running less efficiently and increase the risk of problems in the future. The post Truck Repair Tips And Advice From The Pros appeared first on TruckInsuranceAAA.com. source https://www.truckinsuranceaaa.com/truck-repair-tips-and-advice-from-the-pros/ Earlier today, Peterbilt Motors Company announced that the Women in Trucking Association will recognize the company as a top workplace in the trucking industry at the annual Women In Trucking Accelerate conference in Dallas Texas on November 13th. Sources at Peterbilt report that the company has continually worked on efforts to incorporate diversity in the workplace in recent years, specifically focusing on acculturating women within trucking. “Receiving this award is a testament to Peterbilt’s commitment to fostering and empowering a diverse workforce,” said Jason Skoog, Peterbilt General Manager. “I am excited about our progress to date, and the continued expansion across all of Peterbilt’s diversity initiatives, including the implementation earlier this year of a Veteran’s affinity group.” In 2018, the Peterbilt’s Women Initiative (PBWIN) was launched, an effort in which the company empowered local students and residents in Peterbilt operations areas as a means of outreach to promote STEAM education in schools and promote gender diversity within the trucking industry. When it comes to truck insurance you want to educate yourself as much as you can about the subject to get the results you want, tips like the ones in this article can help you do that. Learning about truck insurance can help you to find the best policy and rate for you. You want to make sure that you are covered and you should understand that coverage so that you know what you are paying for. Property damage liability covers you in the event that your vehicle hits someones property. It is a required coverage in all but 3 states. When you are dealing with truck insurance you should always try to find ways to reduce your premium so that you can always get the best price. A lot of insurance companies will lower your rate if you are someone that drives less the 7500 miles in a year. If you can, try taking public transportation to work or even truck pooling. A simple way to save a bit of money on your truck insurance, is to find out whether the insurance company gives discounts for either paying the entire premium at once (most will give you a small discount for doing this) or taking payments electronically. Either way, you will pay less than shelling out each month’s payment separately. Truck insurance costs can be cut down if you know what to do. Make sure that your truck falls into the low risk category, you add a spouse when you can, tell the insurance company that you have children, and keep a clean driving record. If you are over 25 years old your premiums will go down as well. If you upgrade your truck with aftermarket items like spoilers or a new fender, you may not get the full value back in the case of an accident. Insurance policies only consider the fair market value of your truck and the upgrades you made generally do not get considered on a dollar for dollar basis. Once your truck gets to be older and worth less, consider dropping the collision and maybe even the comprehensive coverage. You will save a good bit of money on your premiums. Find out how much your truck is worth and calculate what you pay each year to insure it. If the numbers are close to each other, reduce the coverage. Many insurance companies have discounts for trucks that have extra anti-theft or security features. If your truck has some of these features, like anti-lock brakes, you should ask your insurance company and see if there are any discounts available. Also, you can get discounts if you took a defensive driving class or if you are a student with good grades. Having insurance is not just an option but it is required by law if one wants to drive a truck. If driving sounds like something that one cannot go without, then they are going to need insurance to go along with it. Fortunately getting insurance is not hard to do. Insurance companies base their rates on their past experiences with their customers. If you hear something about a general trend regarding one type of vehicle, this might not reflect how all insurance companies view that particular vehicle. You should request quotes from several companies and compare them: you might notice a rather big difference. The more claims you file, the more your premium will increase. If you do not need to declare a major accident and can afford the repairs, perhaps it is best if you do not file claim. Do some research before filing a claim about how it will impact your premium. Always receive quotes from multiple providers when seeking truck insurance. Even those providers you wouldn’t consider at first could be offering the lowest rates. You never want to settle on any policy before comparing the price to others as there can be a great difference from one policy to the next. Many of today’s best truck insurance companies offer discounts to customers for low-mileage, incentivizing people to keep their trucks parked. McReynolds, ArcBest chairman, president and CEO. “Our success at ArcBest has come from hiring creative problem solvers, developing great customer relationships, and going above and beyond every day.” ArcBest reports that the 1930’s saw the company buy Arkansas Motor Freight with only 10 employees, three locations, two tractors and an annual revenue of $50,000 as the company grew into the 1940s. The post ArcBest To Celebrate 95 Years In Business appeared first on Truck Insurance AAA - Commercial Insurance for Trucks by A Classic Plan Inc.. source https://www.truckinsuranceaaa.com/arcbest-to-celebrate-95-years-in-business/ Are you buying truck insurance for the first time? You probably don’t even know where to start. It’s no secret that purchasing truck insurance for the first time can be a bit overwhelming. Below are some tips that can help to make getting a new truck insurance policy a bit smoother. Look around on the web for the best deal in truck insurance. Most companies now offer a quote system online so that you don’t have to spend valuable time on the phone or in an office, just to find out how much money it will cost you. Get a few new quotes each year to make sure you are getting the best possible price. Contact your truck insurance agency if you have a change in your work situation. Retiring, cutting back your hours, or switching to telecommuting all mean that you will be driving considerably fewer miles each week. The number of miles you drive can have a significant impact on your truck insurance rates. One way to reduce the cost of your truck insurance is by driving less. Most truck insurance companies offer discounts for drivers that use their vehicles less than 12,000 miles in a year. However, do not be tempted to lie about your mileage, as your truck insurance company might request proof if you need to file an accident claim. If you are a young driver with a high rate, add a responsible older driver to your policy to help get it lowered. Insurance companies look at the age of the drivers, as well as, their driving records, so adding someone over the age of thirty, who has a clean record, will quickly drop your premiums. For older vehicles, remove comprehensive and collision coverage. These options are best saved for newer vehicles, as they pay for repairs and damages caused by accidental damage and other issues. If you remove them, your premiums will be much cheaper and you will still be covered in the event of an accident. Senior citizens can benefit from the discounts that are available from their truck insurance company. These discounts typically kick in at age 55 or 60. You have to request that your insurer add these discounts onto your insurance, as they will not do it automatically. It could save you as much as ten percent on your premium. Your insurance premiums are based on your demographic information. This means that certain categories of people will pay more than others. If you find your insurance too high, perhaps someone else can insure it in their name for you. This is not illegal if this is a shared vehicle. Install an alarm in your vehicle. Getting an alarm for your truck can protect it from being stolen or vandalized. It can also help to lower your premiums. Check to see if your truck insurance provider offers a discount for having an alarm. If you already have a truck alarm, make sure you inform your provider. If you are looking to save money with truck insurance, you should think about going down to one truck. Ask yourself if you really need two trucks. Can you share with your husband or wife? Can you walk places you normally drive? You can save a lot of money this way. Always make sure to contact your truck insurance provider as soon as possible after an accident. Insurance companies will often take a long time to process claims, either intentionally or unintentionally. Even if you submit your claim immediately after an accident, it can take over a week to get up and running again, so call as soon as you can. One way you can save money on your truck insurance premiums is to pay the full annual cost up front. Many insurance companies charge an extra fee for people who pay monthly premiums. Talk to your insurer to see how much you could save by switching to an annual payment. When trying to decide on an insurance company for your truck insurance, you should check into the department of insurance from your state. You will find some valuable information there which will include closed insurance cases, important financial data as well as licensing information. This research will help you decide if you feel comfortable trusting this insurance company. As you have seen, buying truck insurance is not as scary as it may appear at first. Just think of all of the benefits it has and all of the expenses it can take care of, along with all of the money it can save you in the long run. The post Great Advice On How To Get Good Truck Insurance Rates appeared first on Truck Insurance AAA - Commercial Insurance for Trucks by A Classic Plan Inc.. source https://www.truckinsuranceaaa.com/great-advice-on-how-to-get-good-truck-insurance-rates/ Indianapolis trucking companies are saying the city has become “almost like a third world country” as small businesses are forced to beef up security in order to keep their equipment from being stolen. Just three years ago, Taylor’s Truck and Trailer on the west side of Indianapolis, Indiana was hit by thieves who were able to make off with more than 100 tractor trailer batteries in a matter of months. Now more recently, Celadon Trucking on Raymond Street has been robbed as well and this time the thieves did more than steal batteries. According to WTHR News, the thieves were able to take about 30 semi truck batteries from the lot and even broke into one of the trucks and used it as a battering ram to open the lot’s gates and flee the scene. The stolen rig was discovered around one and a half miles away with serious damage some time later. It is not yet clear what Celadon Trucking on Raymond Street plans to do about the breach in security, but Robert Woodward, owner of Taylor’s Truck and Trailer, says that his business has paid dearly for the incident, spending $500 each month just to rent an electric fence for the property. “It’s not pretty. It doesn’t look great. It’s almost like a third world country,” said Woodward. “I mean, they use a lot of electric fences in third world countries and that’s what this city is coming to… crimes like these hit small businesses hard.” The post Trucking companies in Indianapolis say the city is “almost like a third world country” as theft on trucking lots increases appeared first on Truck Insurance AAA - Commercial Insurance for Trucks by A Classic Plan Inc.. source https://www.truckinsuranceaaa.com/trucking-companies-in-indianapolis-say-the-city-is-almost-like-a-third-world-country-as-theft-on-trucking-lots-increases/ |
